Bird Feeder versus FeedBurner?

I was wondering if anyone could give me a breakdown of the differences between what FeedBurner offers (standard free account) and what the new Bird Feeder Pepper offers?

I’ve been using FeedBurner since August but if Mint can give me that functionality on its own… is it a good idea to ditch FeedBurner entirely?

I guess a plus would be that you wouldn’t have to do any forwarding of your domains since this would plug directly into your feed.

(I’ve yet to get it working, but that’s all I can think of so far. ^_^)

Thanks Bryan, If anyone could post a screenshot or 2 (or even someone with client mode enabled could post their mint url) for me to take a look at, that’d be cool. I have yet to find a Mint screenshot that shows much info about the Bird Feeder Pepper.

If you’ve burned a feed with FeedBurner, or you have Bloglines or Google Reader subscribers, they’ll show up as 1 hit, so you won’t get a really accurate picture of how many people get your feed (I think).

Edited by Shaun: Nope, see my comment below or on the Flickr image above for clarification.

I believe Bloglines actually reports the number of subscribers in the user agent. I know Feedburner picks up on this. I haven’t got Bird Feeder working yet to really tell if it does this too. Other online services might also report, but I’m not sure which ones.

Bird Feeder does pick up on the number of subscribers in the user agent string. If that same agent comes back later with a different number, Bird Feeder updates its count (instead of adding it to the existing one).

I’ve left a comment on MacStanbury’s Flickr photo clarifying.

Aaaaaaand now my lengthy comment doesn’t make sense.

Thanks for the edit button to make me not look so clueless.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I’ve got FeedBurner and Bird Feeder running simultaneously (sort of - 2 separate feeds) so I can compare the 2. So far I like what I’ve seen from Bird Feeder. The only thing I’d like to see form Bird Feeder is a breakdown of recent hits and where (country) those hits are coming from (like the FeedBurner “Live Hits” feature).
