Login Password keeps being reset?

This is a strange one and I didn’t find any other references on the forum.

We have a mint installation - janimation.com/mint - for our site that we want to allow multiple people to have access to in order to track the data, marketing, producers, ect. We have one general login for everyone, but somehow the password keeps being reset in the database to the user’s login for our network. Very strange. We have some pages that are HTML, and others running through MovableType so I am just at a loss. It seems that it happens once an author logs into MovableType, then visits the site, even if he/she has not logged into Mint.

In order to see what the password changed to and to reset it, I log into the database with phpMyAdmin and I am able to set it back to the general login.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Strange, I received an email about someone else having this problem earlier this week. Other than that this is the first I’ve heard of this problem.

Are your people using browsers that offer unsolicited form auto-complete? Are they changing Preferences while looking at Mint? That could be the source of the problem.

Both the email and password Preference fields use the non-standard autocomplete="off" to prevent this from occurring in Internet Explorer (also appears to work in Safari). I’m don’t think that property applies to Opera or Firefox but I haven’t had a problem with auto-complete in those browsers.

Firefox (we have a mix of 1.5 and 2.0) is the default browser in our office, and as far as I know the individual users are not messing with the preferences because they are so busy with their normal day-to-day jobs. They just want to see the data and be on their way.

Could it be a cross-cookie issue with them logging into Movable Type and that system’s cookies? I have Mint running on it’s own table to prevent anything from getting messed up in either our MT or Mint data in MySQL.

Since we have multiple authors, I wonder if that is the issue?

No, Mint uses “Mint”-prefixed cookie names so there’s no chance of that. Additionally logging in cannot change and save the email/password combo. And because of the way Mint stores this data it is very unlikely that another application could mistakenly overwrite those values (unless maliciously designed to do so).

If it’s not auto-complete + Preference changing I have no idea what could be causing this.

We have the same problem on energyrace.com. The Mint password keeps getting reset to my Expression Engine password which not only messes up me but the two other people who are using Mint also. Once a day, roughly.

We had the problem both our recent upgrade to Mint 2.06.

We’re MAC firefox 2.0.0.3 users.

I just did an audit of all code that touches the Mint email/password settings. I can’t find anything that would explain this behavior.

Are you using any Firefox plugins that might explain this behavior?

Good idea. I might be.

Google Browser Sync. It syncs browser settings (bookmarks, history, etc.) between machines.

Janimation: do you have any firefox plugins?

I am running Adblock, Fasterfox, Flashswitcher, FlashTracer, Live HTTP headers, and View Source Chart.

I can’t think of how any of those would funkify our password since none of them control that kind of data. I don’t have ad block set to filter anything mint.

Hello,

I’m still looking through all messages related to password issues in this thread, so apologies if this issue has been solved. I am having the same password reset problem. Mainly using Firefox 2.* on macs, running the del.icio.us bookmarks and firebug addons. Also couple of greasemonkey scripts but their default state is off.

Thks

nope, the issue was never resolved. in fact, it continues to happen any time a new user logs into our movable type install, the password is reset to whatever they used for that. It’s very odd.
