Unique hits not updating

Hi there - I just upgraded mint from v2.0 to v2.05 last night, and noticed today that unique hits seem to be broken. I only show a single unique hit today from 7am, but 82 overall hits for the day spread over several hours.

This is highly unusual, and my weblogs verify that these are different users.

Any ideas?

Peter

Please install the Debugger Pepper and send me a link to your Debugger.

In the meantime you should make sure that your server time is properly configured. (And I mean server time—not your Mint configured “Local Time.”) A drop in uniques usually suggests that Mint is unable to set cookies consistently. Another customer just discovered that this can be caused by the server time being off by a couple of hours (so Mint ends up setting cookies in the past).

Hi shaun.

It looks like I’ve got the same problem.

Check out the screen shot.

Missing Uniques

That can’t be right can it? I’ll email you a link now.

David, everything looks normal right now. What you’re seeing above means that a visitor was uncookieable, Mint was able to record their page views but not determine if any of them were by a repeat visitor.

I have the same issue. After upgrading to 2.05 my unique users are off.. same scenario as the users before … actually one of the weird things that’s happening with my mint is that it shows the users as being unique everywhere other than under “totals” for example it has TODAY as Total:9 Unique:2 but under SINCE section where it records the overall today it says Unique:1 it’s very strange.

I since re-installed my mint on a fresh database and so forth but nothing seems to be working.

Never, ever uninstall and reinstall Mint as a troubleshooting measure. Doing so will exaggerate the very problem you are trying to resolve in this case. Returning visitors will have already been cookied by the previous installation and no longer be recorded as unique for a given timeframe until that cookie expires (in the case of since install, never).
