Firefox 2.0 support (and Safari)

I had noticed that in Mint 1.x, some of the more AJAXy and JS stuff didn’t work well and it seems that it’s still the case in Mint 2.0 with Firefox 2.0 (on Mac).

For example: (+) sign on pages, switches to (x) on click but doesn’t stick, doesn’t mark the page as watched. User agent unfold: doesn’t work, progression wheel displays but never unfolds for detailed view.

Note that tabs work.

I noticed that Safari had better luck with these on Mint 1.x. On Mint 2.0, Safari doesn’t display any stat at all.

Unrelated question. With SecretCrush, how do you name the contacts ? Does it just use the info found in Wordpress ?

Erik, have you made sure to clear your cache?

User Agent unfold works fine for me in Firefox 2.0 on Mac, and Safari.

I can add Pages to Watched with Firefox 2.0 but can not delete them. Works fine in Safari.

Safari displays Tabs fine, as does Firefox.

SecretCrush reads the cookies that are set by your publishing system. It guestimates what the name is, you do not need to enter the name as you were able to do in the Nametags Pepper.

Now works on Safari but just doesn’t work for me on Firefox.

Interestingly enough, I tried on IE7 and Firefox 2.01 on Windows and saw the same issues.

It must be something with my site I guess ? It’s odd.

tried at home on another firefox (2.0) and had the same problem. Safari at home didn’t work either, even after a “Reset”. Then I tried on IE7 on Vista and had the same issue again.

This was on a pristine copy of Vista that had just been installed (in Parallels VM)

Any ideas ?

Are you using any of the Firefox Web Developer extensions? Do you see any JavaScript errors?

Yes and yes. I see:

Error: [Exception… “Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIXMLHttpRequest.status]” nsresult: “0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)” location: “JS frame :: frenchguys.com/mint/app/scripts/si-object-mint.js :: anonymous :: line 682” data: no] Source File: frenchguys.com/mint/app/scripts/si-object-mint.js Line: 682

and a few:

Warning: Error in parsing value for property ‘display’. Declaration dropped. Source File: haveamint.com/styles/base.css Line: 1069

on display, display and -moz-opacity

Hmm, you may be experiencing a weird cross-site scripting security problem. If you are using Mint at domain.com try it without the www. or vice versa and let me know if that error goes away.

Hmmm, whether I go to domain.com or domain.com, it resolves back to domain.com and I have the problem either way.

Any other idea,.anything you want me to try ?

I’d love it if there was a way to fix this. I can’t just use Safari for all things Mint.

This is low on my list of priorities. The error code appears to be an internal Firefox error and not a JavaScript error so it may take some time to figure out once it gets higher on my list.

Well, it may be so but I have the same exact problem with IE 7. And I am willing to be I’d have the same problem with IE 6.

I meant ‘willing to bet’

Well I checked and pretty much all Ajaxy features described above fail to work on IE 6, IE 7, Firefox 2.0 and fail to work reliably on Safari.

It seems to be my particular install (never worked on Mint 1.x) but I’d love a resolution on this.

Updated to Mint 2.02. Same problem.

Do you use PithHelmit or any AD blocking software with Safari? I found I had to make sure all of PithHelmit’s features were turned off for my domain to allow Mint’s scripts to work.

No, none.

Also tried to disable every single add-on in Firefox and it led to the same result.

This is still a problem and apparently is not getting fixed. Mint 2.03 still has that issue for me.

Erik, all the features you describe as not working have been tested and are working in all of the browsers mentioned. I cannot reproduce the problems you are having.

Have you tried using these features from another machine or on another network (at a friends house, school or the office)?

Can you change your Mint email/password to something you are comfortable sharing and email it to me so I can take a look?

Done, check your email.
