Transferring without uninstalling?

Long story short: I have a Mint account for one domain, and I’m changing to another domain (which points to the same place). The server, website etc. are all remaining the same, so uninstalling Mint (before reinstalling it in exactly the same place, pointing at the same database, with the same Peppers) is a bit of extra work I’d rather not do unless I have to.

So my question is, do I have to entirely uninstall and remove my Mint installation, or is there some crucial file I can edit or rename or something and then just change back once the transfer process (on this site) is done?

All you need to do is change the Site Domain(s) in your Mint Preferences to reflect the new domain name. You may want to add both domains (new and old, separated by a space or comma) so that you don’t miss any hits while the change propagates.

Also a good idea to visit Mint at it’s new url with the ?moved query command. Since the files physical location on the server hasn’t changed this shouldn’t be necessary but shouldn’t hurt anything either.

Point your new domain to your site, transfer the Mint license, then edit the domain value within Mint.

Hitting /mint/?moved afterwards for posterity.

Edit: What Shaun said.

Hmm… doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve changed the settings as instructed, but on the Transfer Licenses page I keep getting this message: “Please uninstall and remove Mint from ionfish.co.uk and try again.”

Visiting Mint at the new URL with ?moved query command produced a little message saying everything had gone fine, so I’m not sure what the problem is.

Ahh, there we go. Thanks Shaun, this is the way tech support ought to be done.
