User Agents Flash shows nobody has Flash installed

In the User Agents Pepper (v2.0) it’s keeping up with Browser, Resolution, and Platform fine, but on the Flash tab it says that 99% of the visitors have “None” installed for the version (and then < 1% for 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9).

I can confirm this is happening here also. However, this will be quite a way down Shauns todo list. Will have to just wait this one out while Shaun irons everything else out.

I’m having this problem too, it’s very annoying

Yep, same thing here.

This is weird. None of my installs have this problem. I just checked a bunch of your installations using #Mint:Debug, it looks like Mint is recording the version (at least in Safari/Firefox). Could one of you guys take a look at your mint_visit table in PhpMyAdmin and see what the value of the flash_version column is in your most recent couple of hits? What about your oldest hits?

If you uninstalled UA007 at any point (by clicking it’s uninstall button) all data tracked by it would be dumped from the database. If you then reinstalled it, UA007 wouldn’t have any data for the visits recorded before it was reinstalled. That could result in 97% having no version of Flash installed.

All flash version numbers are logged as 0 for the last 1,000 visitors irrespective of browser. We did delete the user agent pepper prior to re-install (the UA data is not that important to us).

Shaun, I can also confirm that all of my recent flash version numbers are 0.

However, I do see my Flash percentages rising slighly. They now sit at:

  • 63% None
  • 32% Flash 9
  • 5% Flash 9

I’m with Sam…mine are also slowly moving back up.

Did you guys uninstall UA007 at any point?

To be honest…I don’t even remember. I uninstalled/installed so many Peppers when I upgraded that I lost track.

Right now I’ll say “Yes”…I did.

I could have when I had Mint1 installed, but not since I’ve upgraded.

Oh and to answer your questions:

flash_version is 8/9 for most new visits, but 0 for older visits.

Looks like it is creeping back up (up to 91% now).

I’ve done both Shaun, uninstalled and reinstalled and just updated on another install. Both are having similar effects, however the stats are rising.

I removed all pepper before upgrading to mint version 2, unsure how compatible they would be with the new version.

Mine is still 100% none, less than 1% for 9 and 8.

Just to chime in on this thread—my stats say 60% don’t have Flash installed.

Hi,

Mine is showing 88% none and 10% Flash 9. Before I updated to 2.02 there was always a spread across Flash 6 to Flash 9, with the majority having 8 or 9. It seems unlikely that the people that have visited my site in the last few days ONLY have 9 or nothing.

I did uninstall UA at some point, and then reinstall, on the day that I updated to Mint 2. I guess that 88% accounts for all the stats before I uninstalled.

I’ve updated mint and uninstalled UA and reinstalled it (to reset it) and I’m still having the problem
