Mint won't load when I update Trends pepper to 3.02

Hey, I downloaded the latest version of Trends today (3.02, previously installed version was 3.01). I uploaded the files correctly, and when I visited my Mint, I would just get a blank page. I then tried removing the pepper from the directory, and when I loaded the mint page again, I got a message saying the pepper was removed and I could see the login screen. I then realized you can download previous versions so I reverted back to 3.01 and Mint was once again running fine. Anyone else have any troubles updating to this latest version of the pepper?

Yes, I just had the very same problem.

One of my Mint installations has Trends already installed. After updating to Trends v3.02, the Mint became nothing more than a blank page. Reverting back to v3.01 fixed this issue.

Trends has not yet been installed on my second Mint installation, but I uploaded Trends v3.02 in preparation for later activation. Upon visiting Mint’s Preferences, I noticed that the Pepper column had disappeared. Removing Trends v3.02 fixed this issue.

Same problem here with Trends 3.02.

Mint works as expected with 3.01 installed.

Alright, I am extremely sorry for this problem. Somehow in my ZIP creation process I included an older version of 3.02 with a PHP syntax error, resulting in a blank Mint page. I have just submitted 3.03 to the Peppermill which will resolve this.

In the mean time, DO NOT INSTALL 3.02. Wait for 3.03 to be approved. I have asked Shaun to remove 3.02 from the Peppermill, so hopefully no one else will run into this issue.

Once again, sorry for any problems this caused you.

Hi Ronald ::

Trends 3.03 is working fine. Thanks for the quick fix!

Random question ::

If you are Ronald Heft, why does your pepper folder say brettdewoody?

Brett DeWoody was the original author of the Performance Pepper for Mint 1. Before he released the Pepper I came up with some ideas to improve it, and he asked me if I would work on it with him.

After we jointly worked on the improvements, we decided a more fitting name was Trends, and released that. We continued jointly working on Trends through version 2.0.

When Mint 2 rolled around, I talked to Brett about updating Trends, and unfortunately he was too busy to work on it. So, I took over the bulk of the development. Brett may still continue working on it down the road, but for now I’m the lead developer.

I’m sorry, i’m new and can’t seem to find a download link to 3.03 on the peppermill or on your own site ronald.

Here’s the download link: http://haveamint.com/peppermill/download/97

I’ve uploaded the brettdewoody dir (with trends inside) to my pepper dir, but the ‘Install’ button isn’t showing up. Anyone else having this problem? I’ve tried logging in/out and deleting/reuploading the brett folder, to no avail.

FWIW, I just upgraded to Mint 2.03.

If you remove the brettdewoody folder and try to install another Pepper, does that work?
