Hits skyrocketing

I have made an odd observation with Mint 2.19. All of a sudden the hits for a particular post on my WordPress weblog started to skyrocket – while the most popular posts just got around 100 to 170 hits in the last eight months the one in question got more than 600 and still gets more daily. Even odder: To find out what’s happening I have installed Piwik to see if it records hits on that post too - but it doesn’t. What’s wrong and how can I fix it?

Thanks!

Gunther

It’s getting worse. The number of hits for that particular page is now about ten times as high as for the most frequently accessed page. But not only that – suddenly Mint displays a different name for that page (which is not related to the one before). Piwik still doesn’t record hits for these pages.

And another oddity: The number of hits for a particular outbound link has increased by the factor 10 over night. This exceeds the number of visitors in that period.

I think I’m having a similar problem, but I see it in the Internal Trends pepper. The top link changes randomly and it has hundreds of hits. If you select a different time span, the most visited page changes.

Gunther, check this link for a possible solution: haveamint.com/forum/troubleshooting/217 … ne_anomaly

Have you moved to a new server recently?

Perfect! Running the checkums script has solved my problem with the pages pane. My service provider has updated something a month ago and it looks like he has moved my content from a 32 to a 64 bit server. - I had the index trimming feature enabled.

Thank you, stormy!
