Two parallel Mint Installations showing different stats (increased stats in Mint 2)

I decided to start a new thread on this to clear up confusion. I accidentally hit post and only have 5 min to edit, so I will continue the discussion below.

My unique hits started increased when I upgraded to v2 as can be seen in this screenshot of fresh view: http://photo.ryanrahn.com/images/unique … shview.png

You will notice that not only do the uniques increase, but they follow the total hits…not flat as they had been before.

To try and troubleshoot this problem (along with several other problems I was having with the new mint) I installed a parallel Mint installation. I created a new mysql database and uploaded brand new files to a new folder on the server. I then added the additional code to my pages to allow the 2nd one to separately record hits. I did not install any peppers in the second installation…it is straight from the box. These installations are running completely separate from each other.

Here are the two installations. The first is the one I have had for over a year and upgraded, and the second is the clean install. http://photo.ryanrahn.com/mint http://photo.ryanrahn.com/photomint

After running for 24 hours I noticed that the main mint stats were not matching up as they should be. At first I thought the second installation was simply recording less data, but when I looked at the graph, I noticed something strange. At times it records more data and at times less.

(left = old, right = new)

Notice at 3pm the right one is considerably higher, but at 1am the right one is much higher.

If there is a problem with recording hits, shouldn’t just ONE installation be affected….not both? Does this mean there is a problem with a clean mint installation not recording data?

You can’t track the same site with two separate Mint installations unless you have heavily modified Mint and its Pepper. The two installations are using the same cookies. As a result your unique visits and an other Pepper that user cookies are not going to be accurate. This is not a valid way of troubleshooting Mint.

Thanks for clearing that up. The second one is no longer recording data. So how to I troubleshoot the increased unique stats?

Did you update to 2.0 from Mint 1.29 or an earlier version?

I updated from 1.29, yes.
