?fbc_channel = 1

Is anyone else getting a lot of double url calls in the tracking reports?

ill get a page hit.. then a second one with the exactl same url but with ?fbc_channel = 1 appended to the url.

i did some googling, and the general consensus is that its a facebookconnect thing of sorts, but no real solutions as o how to deal with it in a tracking report.

anyone else running into this?

I have not encountered this yet.

hmm

If you don’t mind and have a second can you take a look at this screen grab of my referees? http://cl.ly/ehv

its just weird. anyway thanks for respond Shaun.

1 response per 129 views.. guess thats about average. :D

I’m glad I’m not the only one encountering this problem. To be fair I don’t think this problem lies with Mint at all. Basically each time someone loads a page, ?fbc_channel=1 is appended to the end of the URL and shows up as a new hit on Mint and Google Analytics.

For example when someone visits http://domain.com, I see that Mint registers both http://domain.com and then http://domain.com/?fbc_channel=1 some 10 seconds later. This applies to all subpages as well.

I have the Facebook Fanbox widget displayed and I think that may be causing it Mickey, do you have the same widget, too?

I spent some time this afternoon troubleshooting this. As suspected, the Facebook Fanbox widget is causing the problem. Once I remove it, all the “?fbc_channel=1” disappear!

Solution: Get rid of the Fanbox code. Replace it with the new Like Box code. It’s basically the same thing minus the annoying “?fbc_channel=1”. http://developers.facebook.com/docs/ref … s/like-box

P.S. If you encounter a 404 error like I did, replace the profile_id with just id. Works like a charm!

yea i didnt have anything facebook except for disqus commenting turned on.. and specifically i had enabled people to use facebook connect to log into disqus.. ( its a feature of disqus so no hacking or fancypants on my end )

annyway i removed the facebook connect option from my disqus account and the duplicat entries disappeared from my mint tracking.

not ideal cause i still would like people to be able to use FBConnect for disqus, so hopefully there will be a similar workaround for that in the future.
