Location+ v113 breaks my Mint install

After updating Mint and all installed peppers to the latest version, Mint tracking stopped working altogether. It would not record any pageviews at all. I eventually narrowed it down to the Location+ pepper. After uninstalling it, updates started working again; as soon as I reinstalled Location+ the tracking would stop.

I verified the following steps:

  • latest database.dat file uploaded to root folder
  • Permissions seem to be ok (user/group of server, went all the way to 777, just in case)

I would hate to see extended location info go. Any ideas? Till?

Thanks.

Hmm, this may be a hint. The mint_location table seems to be gone. Can I force a migration to create it again?

And furthermore, the location columns (eg, city_name, region_name) have not been re-added to the mint_visit table. So, it looks like the installation db tasks didn’t executed properly.

Ignore the last comment. They are not added because I uninstalled Locations+, of course. Once I re-install it they are being added just fine. The problem in the OP, however, persists.

Sorry for the noise.

I would turn on the error reporting to E_ALL and check the logs to see whats wrong.

I’ve turned error reporting on with ?errors query parameter. I can’t seem to find the log file though (doesnt seem to be written to standard server error logs).

Any work arounds for this?

I’ve tried both Locations v2.50 and Locations Plus v1.13 with no success.

Between my wife and I we have three domains that have Mint licenses. On two domain Locations Plus v1.13 works fine. On the third domain I can’t get it to work.

The pane will appear briefly immediately after it’s installed only to disappear.

I’ve tried re-installing the pepper twice. I’ve tried activating it from various machines, including an iPod Touch.

I can’t even get location+ to even show up in the install.

More than a week with no substantive response.

I am disappointed that this Pepper seems to be falling by the wayside as it has been one of my favorites for a long time.

Managed to fix this (I hope) by copying the LocationsPlus pepper from another Mint installation to the new installation.

My suspicion is that the current version available from the Pepper site is either corrupt, and or I corrupted it during its download and installation.

Howdy, I’m wondering if people are still having an issue with this pepper. I’ve got two installations, one just recently (that does not work) and one that’s been long outstanding that does work.

The install that is not working is running on lighttpd and refuses to populate the appropriate fields in the views table (city, location, etc.), and does not register new hits (although it does track outbound links). I’ve tried copying the files over from the working install (including the database) and it doesn’t work.

I’ve tried the “?errors” query without seeing anything (to be honest I’m confused as to where the output would be).

As there hasn’t been any posts about the issue in quite some time, I was hoping to see if this is something I should be hacking away at, or, if something truly has been broken in the latest version.

I still have this issue. Nothing gets tracked anymore when I install Locationsplus. Nothing shows up in the log-files of my server and no errors when using ?errors. Locations works as it should be. however. I hope this is getting fixed because I love the detailed view of Locations+.

No word from Till in almost a year, a bit disappointing.

Has anyone found a workaround for this problem, or is my only recourse to uninstall and delete Locations completely?

same happend to me. very annoying! how come there is no fix for this problem yet? no alternative available? is mint support reading along?
