Mint 2.0 Doubles your website's popularity!

Well, I’m not sure about that actually. Since installing 2.0, mint is reporting more than double the uniques and many more search engine visitors. Reported page views are not showing the same growth.

I did get a page rank boost around the same time, but google analytics is not showing near as much growth. I didn’t touch the mint includes on my pages. Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon?

Haze, wasn’t one of the third-party Pepper you had installed exhibiting the whitespace after the closing ?> tag issue? That problem (which looks resolved on your install right now) would account for the almost identical total/unique visits (and isn’t specific to Mint 2, the whitespace problem would have affected any version of Mint).

I don’t think I ever had that problem, no. This started happening the day I upgraded to v2.0. I only have official peppers installed.

Not sure what would be causing this, maybe I really am getting twice the visitors… that would be nice. It’s just weird because the page views aren’t also showing the growth.

This usually indicates that cookies aren’t being set which results in Mint counting every page view as unique. This isn’t a new addition to Mint 2, it’s always been this way.

Given the subject matter of the site, savvy surfers may have cookies disabled (or frequently deleted). Are you using UA007? What do your browsers look like? I wonder if it’s a particular browser that’s scoffing at your cookies.

Also, which version did you upgrade from?

I don’t think my surfers have anything against cookies… mint cookies are especially delicious.

Browsers look fairly normal, about the same as before upgrading from 129.

Everything else seems to be working just fine so I’m not too concerned. Thanks for your help and a great product. Enjoy the weekend.

Hmmmm … same problem here. My Unique Visitors doubled since upgrading to 2.0 (running 2.04 now). Google Analytics shows similar numbers but Analytics also counts my visits and Mint does (should) not.

The boost might come from a WordPress upgrade (2.1) around the same time which switched my RSS feeds from full to excerpt. The boost would be great but I don’t believe the numbers somehow … Google Analytics should have tracked more Uniques too then…

Try installing the new Debugger Pepper. Email me a link to your debugger and I’ll take a look.

I’ve sent you the Debugger-URL.

Are there some news with this issue? I’m having the same problem with a clean install of v2: Every activity seems to be tracked twice …that’s not so good!

Please help, thanks.

aschlemmer, you have the Mint JavaScript included twice on all of your pages!

Thanks, Shaun.

There is just 1 question left: How could I be sooooo stupid? Please don’t answer ;-)

Thanks again, it’s fixed now.
