Secret Crush: What does "Timed Out" really mean?

Hi There,

Just curious, when somebody visits a page, sometimes Secret Crush reports “timed out” as the length of time they viewed. Does this mean my server and their client aren’t communicating, or does it simply mean the viewer spent so long on the page (i.e. just left their browser open without leaving my site)?

Thanks!

I’m new to Mint, but I’m almost positive it’s the latter. The default setting for the pepper is to end a session after 7 minutes of inactivity. You can change that to a higher or lower value (I have mine set at 15).

Nope. They could have spent more than the session time (and are still) reading the page, closed the window, clicked a link to another site (the Outbound Pepper can tell you when that happens) or stepped away from the computer with your page open.

Thanks for the tips! I will look into increasing the timeout for the session.
