Birdfeeder Pepper overcounting Netvibes.

I’ve installed the Birdfeeder pepper as well as the Wordpress plugin to include the proper code in the RSS files.

I had approx 1500 subscribers with Feedburner (and still do as I am running both concurrently) but the number reported by Birdfeeder is in excess of 5k. The number of Netvibes readers is off the chart, which must be a mistake. The USer agent pepper puts it at 92%.

I know Google reader provides a real subscriber count to stats software. Does Netvibes?

I do not think that Bird Feeder is compatible with Feedburner (you can’t use the two concurrently) because of the way Feedburner caches your feed. Not sure about Netvibes. If they provide the subscriber count in any of the standard ways Bird Feeder will use it.

I just noticed that my feed count plummetted recently, as did the share of netvibes in the user agents tab. I was about to write and ask if anyone knew what was broken, but it looks like something may actually have been fixed? Can anyone say for sure one way or the other?

Nothing has changed on Bird Feeders end. Perhaps Netvibes corrected an issue on their end.

Here’s something I found at Feedburner. Seems like Netvibes may be inconsistent. http://groups.google.com/group/feedburn … orkarounds

I cut Feedburner, primarily because I just don’t see the point of having someone else manage the feed. Since readers now report subscriber stats I think the role of Feedburner is diminishing. I’ve also moven my email subscribers to an in house solution.

I’m now 100% Mint. Next step is to get off the Grid Mediatemple service.

I am showing 97% Netvibes subscribers. I don’t know anyone who uses Netvibes.

I’ll take another look at their subscriber count format but I can’t do anything about a service misreporting the number of subscribers short of simply ignoring that service.
