Mint is tracking, but only Visits is working

I have a very weird problem.

Yesterday my Mint install was went down because of a problem with MediaTemple’s database servers. I think the database unavailability messed up my Mint installation.

But here’s the weird bit: Mint is still tracking. It still adds visits to the database, and the “Visits” Pepper still works, but “Pages” “Crushes” and every other Pepper doesn’t work.

I’ve tried using @?errors@ and @?live-debug@ to no avail.

Here’s a screenshot: http://other.cameron.io/media/mint.png

There’s current visit activity in Visits but Pages says no activity for the last 16 hours.

And if it helps, I recently moved from A Small Orange hosting to MediaTemple.

Oddly enough, I just started having the same issue from around three days ago, though I have been messing around with my mint tables (see this question), which may have been the issue. I’m on A Small Orange (@cameron, why’d you switch?).

I switched because I wanted a higher-end host. So far, Media Temple has been okay, but they could be better. Every host has their quirks. It was between (mt) or Joyent, and I have a client on Joyent and I don’t like how their system works (in terms of support, control panel, etc).

I’m thinking my problems are from a corrupted database. Mint has been working fine on Media Temple since I moved from ASO, but ever since that database downtime, it’s been screwed up.

Cameron, I’m seeing a MySQL error in your debug output (using #Mint:Debug on your homepage):

MySQL Error: Unknown column 'session_checksum' in 'field list'. (1054)

Can you check your mint_visits table to make sure that that column exists? If not, you should try uninstalling and reinstalling the Secret Crush Pepper. Perhaps the column got dropped when you ported the Mint db to your new host (although I’m not sure what would cause that to happen).

Mitch, oddly enough, I am seeing the same error on your site.

Yup, It’s not in the “Structure” tab in PHPMyAdmin for mint_visits.

How do I create it?

(And from browsing around, it sounds like it’s different based on 32- and 64-bit hosts. I use (mt) so I’m guess it’s 64-bit? I don’t know how to tell.)

Sorry, forgot to follow the reinstall Secret Crush instructions.

It worked, thanks!

Mint can tell you which architecture you’re on. Just point your mouse at the Mint version number in the footer. After a second a tooltip should appear giving you the internal Mint version number and the server architecture (eg. v215 on 32).
