I think no one likes to update Mint, or especially their Pepper.

Currently you can only update my Pepper, but the Peppermill will be included soon. This Pepper is absolutely experimental. http://pepper.pralinenschachtel.de/down … dates_v001

If you receive a error, try the Pepper’s documentation.

I’m still looking for a better name ; )

How about “Sergeant Pepper” (name courtesy of Dan Rubin)?

I dig Sergeant Pepper as a name.

Aren’t you lazy enough to use this Pepper?
I’d like more feedback.

So, erm, a dumb question, but what does it actually do?…

Pepper Updater Pepper, or a Pepper that updates Pepper ; )

Hmmm, given the current state, does it actually do anything? All I get is a pane with

Search, with a “backup” button, strangely, and “Please search for updates.”

Outdated Pepper: There are no Pepper updates available.

Available Pepper: Installing new Pepper is currently disabled.

No errors, but no behavior, either. The “backup” button directs to “/mint/?preferences#search” but doesn’t appear to do anything…

Hope this helps!

A

a.jaffe: There must be an error if you hit the “search” button.

Aha.

I’ve been using Safari.

On Firefox the button (still called !) seems to work. It spins a little and tells me to reload, and then I get the message “Last search was < 1 min ago.” (or whatever length of time).

But Safari doesn’t work…

This and other things should now work in v0.03.

Till,

Cool!

But I do get the message

Warning: mkdir() [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in /usr/www/users/jaffe/mint/pepper/tillkruess/sergeant/class.php on line 161 Could not create temporary folder!

Also, the instructions refer to the pepper as /updates/.

And the button still says “backup”…

Yours,

Andrew

Yeah, the buttons are only temporary.

Now you can take the message “Could not create temporary folder!” and look it up in the docs.

You need to change some directories chmod to 777.
