Preferences page broken after update 2.16

I updated four installations of mint to 2.16 and they came all out with a broken preferences page.

You can see a screenshot at expanism-webdesign.nl/mint.jpg

I tried to switch style to mint chocolate and it give the error: “The preferences form must be completely loaded before saving.”

But nothing is loading, and the four installations are on different servers so it’s not a server kind of thing.

Hope it can be fixed.

Regards, Edski

Try the ?errors query command.

Same problem here. What do yo mean withe the command, do I run it at Mysql-db? If I do see I get a message that the syntax isn’t correct. If I try show errors I get:

Error 1142 SELECT command denied to user ‘koencolpmint21’@’10.0.5.34’ for table ‘user’

Any ideas?

For the record, in the beginning 2.16 was working just fine. The problem started after adding some pepper but now I can’t undo.

Fixed!

I deleted all the folders that I had named as -old with the update, now it works all fine!

i think the instructions specifically indicate to remove the folders named as “-old” or your preferences won’t show up..

Not quite, because in my case it was a fresh install since I only purchased Mint last week.

Anybody? I’ve checked: there are no old-dir’s in my folder. Can I just delete the pepperfolders?

The ?errors query command is just a url query string and goes in the url not your database. Because Preferences is itself a query command you should add &errors to your Preferences url.

This issue has been covered ad nauseum in this forum. You cannot have any form of duplicate Pepper in your Pepper directory. That includes renamed copies (eg. peppername-old or peppername copy) or two copies of the same pepper in different developer directories (eg. developer1/peppername and developer2/peppername).

Thanks for the reply Shaun but as I said before mine is a fresh (new) install and therefor there are no duplicates in my directory.

The &error command says:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘(‘, expecting ‘}’ in /home.10.26/koencolp/www/mint/pepper/samparkinson/bigtotal/class.php on line 91

Can I just edit the specified file?

Then why is your support request posted in the “Preferences page broken after update 2.16” thread?

If there is a parse error in a third-party Pepper, remove it from your server or update with a fresh copy of the offending Pepper.

If removed, Mint will display properly and offer to uninstall the missing Pepper (the physical files may be gone but Mint will still think it is installed until you uninstall it through Mint).
