Mint recording double hits?

Hello,

As I’ve been running my stats for the past couple weeks, I’ve come across an issue wherein I believe Mint is recording hits twice.

My “Pages” pane shows double hits on each page that’s accessed, and here’s a screenshot excerpt to illustrate the point: angelenic.com/images/pages.png

Any ideas on why Mint may (or may not?) be recording double hits?

Also, my traffic updates in pairs… i.e., I’ll have, say, 1,501 hits, then I refresh stats and it shows 1,503, then 1,505, then 1,507, 1,509…

I’m not seeing anything that would suggest a cause for this behavior and I can’t seem to reproduce it (looking at your debug info, your hits seem to be incrementing a single hit at a time). The Mint JavaScript include only appears once in your source code.

How are you handling the redirect from angelenic.com to www.angelenic.com? Client-side or server-side? A client-side redirect could result in a double hit.

Well, I tried searching last night for the issue on the forum with not much luck. A friend of mine came up with the answer: the Mint script was in my code twice.

The only thing is, I’m sure I only put it in once, and I have no idea how the second code got there. Not only that, I have no idea how to remove it still. I removed the script that I put in the header myself.

Does the Mint plugin for Wordpress automatically insert the code?

Does the Mint plugin for Wordpress automatically insert the code?

If you are using the plugging that automatically inserts the Mint code, then yes—that is all that plugin does.

I’m using the ShiftThis MintStats plugin… So I don’t know anymore. Point is, it’s fixed.

Thanks.

I’m having this problem, too. I inserted the Mint javascript into the header for my theme, only to discover that Wordpress is already inserting it, in a call to wp_head();. Not sure how or why this is happening; I’m not using any Mint plugin for Wordpress. I have commented out the js call I had in my header, which solves the problem, but I’m curious nonetheless. You can check it out at http://thinksimplenow.com , if you’re curious.

I seem to be having this issue as well. I’m still currently using an old metrics program on one of my client’s sites along with Mint. The old metrics package is recording single hits for a visit at 8:00AM this morning but Mint is recording a double hits for that same visit. The issue isn’t consistent so I’m not sure if I’ve done something wrong. If someone wants to take a look, you can see it here. http://yeccdaycare.ca/mint

To be honest, I’m not sure if mint is incorrect or my old metrics package is incorrect. I venture to say that based on my testing that Mint is accurate but my 8:00AM visit today was weird.

anyone? any suggestions on this issue? i’ve once again had a visit that has recorded the double hits issue. this has only happened twice so it’s not a regular issue. mint tells me that the person has seen 26 pages but it’s really only 13. my old metrics package seems to be recording the number of hits correctly. could this have something to do with the browser version?

this issue still happens but very rarely. due to the fact that it’s very irregular, could this be happening because someone is double clicking their links as opposed to single clicking a link? any thoughts on this?

You should also make sure that you are not adding the Mint JavaScript include manually and with .htaccess.

could this be happening because someone is double clicking their links

Most likely not.
