page load time is much worse now than with Mint 1.2

I read that Mint 2 features an improved page load time, better that Mint 1.x. At least in my case, that’s not true. Mint takes forever to load, and while it loads it freezes my browser completely (I’m running FF 2.0.0.1 on Windows XP, btw.).

Mint 1.x was much better regarding page load time, it loaded almost immediately…

regards, Joerg

I found that if I disabled the “Stager Pane Loading” option, my mint page displays immediately.

With “stager pane loading” on, my mint page was very slow loading.

I found it somewhat humorous that the stager pane loading option was implemented to help mint load faster but all i did for me was make mint load slower.

Maybe others have had better results…

That’s odd. I’ll look into this but for the time being Japhy try disabling “Stagger pane loading” in the Preferences.

I’ve had the same problem…2.0 takes a good amount of time to load. I’m using staggered mode, but will disable it to see if that helps the load time.

Update: Wow, what a difference…disabling staggered mode makes the page load must faster and doesn’t freeze up my browser (FF 2.0.0.1).

I found that changing Mint to single column mode removes the freezing and Mint loads a lot quicker. I’ve got a feeling that it could be the whitespace removal option that’s causing the freezing in the other view. I’m going to test it out.

Stagger pane loading was a problem for me, but here’s what I did to correct it. I disabled it and cleared my browser cache. I then restarted my browser and enabled it again. Now it loads lighting fast. I suspect you might have some old JS code from Mint 1.x that is causing the issue. Just try my suggestion and staggered pane loading should work fine.

Edit: Also disable the collapse whitespace option before clearing the cache.

Hmmm, Mint 2.0 loads much faster than 1.x for me.

Yeah. Like I said before. It’s probably going to be different for everyone. I have Staggered loading turned off, whitespace removal tunred on (I should turn it off) and I load my panes in a single column.

Plain and simple, my configuration loads FAST!

I just tried what cavemonkey50 suggested to increase load times but it didn’t really help :( Having too many peppers installed is probably my problem though :) The current load time is just about bearable.

I uninstalled the Prank Pepper and that did the trick for me…
