Installed Mint v215, getting blank screen

Sorry for the bother.

This may be related to problems caused by my ISP, ipowerweb, moving my server to a new system.

Since they did the transfer, Mint stopped working.

I updated to Mint v215, but only get a blank screen when I invoke, askmar.com/mint

Tried mint/?moved and mint/?errors, but didn’t see any difference.

Are you using any special .htaccess rules? Also, you could try running the Mint Server Compatibility Suite on the new server.

Passed Step One.

On Step Two. askmar.com/mint-scs/styles.css timed out.

On Step Three

Ran database compatibility and permissions test and got:

Could not connect to the database server. Error: Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock’ (2)

Will bug my ISP, ipowerweb to see how they managed to screw things up!

thanks for the advice!

p.s. Not using any special .htaccess rules, so far as I know.

My ISP changed localhost to askmarco.ipowermysql.com

The compatibility test now works.

Updated the db.php file accordingly.

However, I still get a blank screen when I invoke askmar.com/mint

Thoughts?

I don’t know whether this has anything to do with what happened to you, but I just updated my mint installation, and was getting a completely blank screen. After a whole bunch of staring at the screen and putting little print(‘hello?’); statements in all the php files, I found it was a problem with a pepper freaking out when trying to update itself. Maybe go through and rename/delete all your pepper folders one by one and see if it works, then you might get a clue.

Make sure PHP is compiled with mysql support. This caused the problem for me.
