Single License on a separate domain that re-directs to a subdomain?

I don’t want to run afoul of my license agreement, so here’s the situation.

I have two domains: exampleone.com and exampletwo.com.

But exampletwo.com is actually exampletwo.exampleone.com — a subdomain of exampleone.com for which I have a Mint license.

Viewers of exampletwo.com never know that they’re actually looking at a subdomain of exampleone.com.

Two domains but hosted under one domain.

Is that allowable under a single license?

No, two sites = two licenses, that’s the easiest way to explain it.

The license reads: “This Agreement grants a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on a single Website.”

That seems unnecessarily vague to me. I can make the argument that an installation across two domain names can still technically abide by the agreement.

It seems to me that clearer phrasing would clear up some confusion, such as: “This Agreement grants a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on a Website associated with a single registered domain name.”

Because your users don’t know that example2.com is hosted on example1.com qualifies it as a separate website and requiring its own license.

The easiest way to break it down is, two Mint installations = two licenses.

Also the Definitions at the bottom of the license clarify:

A “Website” is defined as a single domain including sub-domains that operate as a single entity. What constitutes a single entity shall be at the sole discretion of the Author.

Thanks for the clarification. I missed the definitions.

Personally, I think defining a Website in terms of registered domain names eliminates a lot of gray area.

So if I have siteone.com and then a sub domain of photos.siteone.com, I have to get a second license?

aedmonds: Only if you want to track photos.siteone.com separately from siteone.com. If the subdomain is part of the main site and only one Mint installation is desired then only one license is necessary.
