Hey there everybody,

I just downloaded and installed the “Doorbell Pepper”. It installed and activated fine, but now I can’t see anything on my stats page.

No flashing, no blinking. Where is it supposed to show up? What might be wrong?

Thx for any help, Tim

Only when someone visits your site will you see/hear anything.

Unique visitors flash green, returning white. If you post your URL, we can test this for you.

I can only assume that it ignores your visits if you have that cookie set in Mint.

The Doorbel Pepper is a paneless pepper, that is, there is nothing for it to display via Mint. It should only ring when someone is visiting your site.

Haven’t installed it myself so I can offer anything more than that.

It has also yet to be tested in IE.

Hmm, I’m not even sure how to troubleshoot this. :)

What browser are you using? Do you have at least the Flash 7 plugin installed? Are you using anything like FlashBlocker? This Pepper is still experimental (hence the sub 1.0 versioning) and doesn’t work in IE 6.

OK, I’va check that. I removed the cookie-restriction and reloaded several times. The “Crushes” pane shows me, but nothing else happens.

I’m on a Mac using Firefox 2.0.0.3, haven’t checked in any other browser. Flash version should be up to date.

Hmm, are you sure that your site is being visited? A quick ?observe shows you should be hearing a chirp about every 6-10 minutes. Doorbell works fine in Firefox on a Mac. If no one is viewing your site then there is not going to be much to see or hear.

I have the same problem with my Mac. I have it installed. I watch the screen and nothing… I have Flash player 9.0.28 installed.

the site I’m on is presenternet.com

One more thing… when I do a view source of my mint page I don’t see any ajax code or flash objects.

You should see something similar to this addition at the bottom the source of your Mint page:

Do you see a Warning under the Doorbell Preferences?

No, I don’t get the warning. I did at first (the write privs) but fixed that.

OK Shaun. You’re the magic man. It works now. Kinda silly though so I turned it off… But neat in an odd kind of way.

Thanks!

O, and since it is still in early development, I’m on an Intel Mac running the latest Firefox.

Does the Mint window have to have focus, or can it be in the background for Doorbell to work? Will it still work if Mint is in a Firefox tab in the background?

Doug W, how did you you fix it?

I don’t see a warning under Doorbell prefences either.
