Bug? Ignore my visits

I’m not sure if this is a bug, but Mint doesn’t seem to remember my preference for ignoring my visits.

I have set it to ignore my visits, but it seems to forget that setting (not sure if it’s stored in the database), when I check Mint from my home and work PCs.

If this setting isn’t stored in the database, may I propose that it is in a future version?

Thanks, Nick

Nick, this option uses a cookie to determine whether you want to be ignored or not.

If you add #Mint:Debug to the end of any of your URLs what happens?

If you see a Mint debug screen then your hits are being recorded, if nothing happens you are being ignored.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for your reply.

I’m aware what the ignore feature does - what I’m asking is whether this setting is/should be stored in the database, as it doesn’t seem to remember my preference when I login on different PCs - is this setting based solely on whether the cookie exists when visiting the preferences page, or is it retrieved from the database?

I’m proposing that it be stored in the database if it doesn’t already do so, to persist the “ignore” feature across different PCs.

The ignore function is stored in a cookie, so if you use another computer yes it will track your visits. Problem with storing it in the database is you would still have to visit mint in the first place to set it for that computer. Even then, I’m not sure how setting it in the database would work unless you had a static IP address for each computer.

Hi Finny,

You made an excellent point - I (stupidly) forgot that the cookie would need to store the new IP address - thanks for the reminder!

I think this can be considered resolved then, purely because of my oversight :)
