Re: A nice compliment to SERPs Pepper by Scott Holdren

Scott,

Very awesome plugin.

Quick question how does it work.. is the ranking information part of the URL when it comes in or does the server check the ranking after it receives the traffic. Basically what I’m asking is with a high volume site is there any danger of creating a red flag by automatically querying the search engine for ranking positions.

Traffic threshold pepper

Hey all…I recently discovered Mint and I’m loving it!

I just wrote a pepper which will alert you via email if you get more than N page views in a minute. The idea being if you get an unexpected traffic spike, you might want to know sooner rather than later.

This uses a shared memory segment to make it as fast as possible; only the config settings are written to the Mint database. When you install it, the pepper tries its best to test and make sure it’s going to be able to work, and will give you a message in the preference pane if not.

If you want to give it a try and give me some feedback, a 0.90 version is here:
rassoc.com/gregr/samples/trafficthreshold-090.zip

Unzip to your pepper folder, and install from the Mint preferences.

Let me know how it works for you!

Detailed tracking for logged in Expression Engine users

I am looking to track page views, with dates and time spent on each page for logged in ExpressionEngine users. Specifically, I want to see the date and time each user accessed each page in our learning management site, and how much time they spent there. It appears that a combination of Mint, Secret Crush and the ExpressionEngine Nametag extension will do this for me. I would like to confirm this before I purchase Mint. Has anyone successfully accomplished this?

Thanks
Susan
